Islam bashing in this century

Pretty much from the beginning of this century there has been plenty of anti-islamic rhetoric in global politics. What is missing is more peaceful protests from the muslim community. No, you simply cannot ask muslims to carry a special id-card, Mr Trump. That will be violating their fundamental rights. A community must not accept being labeled as terrorists. We must see more peaceful protests. Not suicide bombers. Muslims form a huge community and can exhibit a graceful protest than can intimidate anyone. I suppose leadership might be the problem.

Why did Columbus have to find routes again?

Way before Columbus, Alexander of Greece knew the route to almost everywhere. But then during the so called dark ages, Europe lost connection to the world. Rome left the middle east. Kind of like history repeating now. The way they are closing borders and shutting themselves in makes me believe that some such political mess happened hundreds of years ago.

On Abortion

Thank God that the US justice system does not depend on misguided church lobbyists and can make decisions that are right for the society. Since most of the lawmakers are men, when they talk about abortion, they might want to consider what conditions would be right for men if they had to give birth to young ones. And what would men do if they thought they could not support a child they were bringing in to this world.

US Immigration reform

In the 90s it was a privilege to immigrate to US. Visas were difficult to get. Not anymore.

Benghazi Committee Hearing

The Benghazi committee hearing looks a lot like a filibuster. Trey Gowdy needs to be voted out of office. This is a mockery of the act of caring for an ambassador who died doing his duty.

Prison reform

There is something fundamentally wrong about prisons. Nothing good comes out of putting people in a cage. I would say make people involved in minor crimes part of programs that will bring some goodness in them. Make them believe in the good of society. Most criminals rarely meet decent people. Exiles, living on reservations, etc. are some things I can think of.

The problem with ISIS

The much feared ISIS is nothing but a group of mercenaries. They typically fight for Sunnis and is guided by team Saudi Arabia. But ISIS has only trained for supporting dictatorial regimes. They are very good at keeping regimes in place. But not so good at toppling regimes. Hence they are not seeing success in Syria. On the other hand dictators of the region are very good at staying in power. Thus the Syrian war is so far advantage Assad. Assad keeps Syria secular but as of now he has too much blood of his countrymen on his hands. He needs to go.

Hillary Clinton vs Lincoln Chafee

The Democratic debate brought forward Lincoln Chafee to the view. Lincoln Chafee has voted on everything correctly. His intentions are good but we know little about his methods. On the other hand Hillary Clinton has made plenty of mistakes. She is one confused politician out there. Yet she has experience. She knows the ground realities. But then again, will her politics be more of the same that did not do so well? I am looking forward to the Democratic party's nominee. The American elections have become very interesting this time.

Presidential candidate Lincoln Chafee

Lincoln Chafee says bring Snowden back. He did nothing wrong. He was making Americans aware of what was happening to them. Other Presidential candidates say that Snowden should have done this in a different way. But I think Snowden had not much choice. Lincoln Chafee has the guts to call Snowden a hero. Chafee sure gets plenty brownie points on this debate. I wish CNN had given him some more time to talk.

Free Julian Assange

London must do the right thing. She must let Assange walk free. No matter what the methods were Julian Assange's results always were for the betterment of humanity. The decisions that democratic leaders make must be made available for public scrutiny and debate so that they may vote wisely. We need more not less of Assange's investigative journalism.

Cuba and character

Cuba and America is definitely a David and Goliath story. But this is not an isolated story. There were many charismatic leaders that stood up against big powers for a while. But Cuba ticks because Fidel Castro is still a man of character. After so many years, he still is true to his ideals. Quite a feat when we consider how quickly politicians change once they assume power. Cuba has helped many countries become free while safeguarding their own. Hats off to Cuba.

The Israel Palestine conflicts

Cannot escape the Israel Palestine conflicts. They have been around forever. People have gotten used to typically seeing Jewish soldiers attacking Palestinians children and women. Of course, we do not see much of Palestinians attacking Jewish people in the media. But we all know such attacks exist. Most people have given up on solving this problem. The Human rights groups cry foul all the time. But the consensus seems to be that Palestinians live in an apartheid state of Israel. Apartheid is shameful in today's world. Israel resorts to it because of terrorism. And unless Palestinians have their own state there will always be terrorism. We all know that Israel has every right to exist. The only Jewish state in the world formed after a lot of pain endured by the Jewish community. Countries are formed randomly. The Britishers fought many wars and changed boundaries like crazy when they were a colonial power. Even before the British boundaries constantly changed and there were always wars. In modern times countries are formed on the basis of whether peace can be maintained. The solution to the Israel-Palestinian conflict will be divide the region in to three states - Gaza, West bank, and Israel. Or redraw the boundaries so that two states are possible with secure boundaries. Unfortunately one state is not possible. Because Israel will not give up its only chance of existing as a Jewish state. And because in such a Jewish state terrorism will not go away overnight. Hence a one state solution will come with apartheid for a long long time.

The two state solution for Palestine

The problem with the two state solution for the Palestine Israeli conflict is that the boundaries were always bad. Boundaries are so bad that the two parties want the entire pie for themselves. The boundaries were randomly drawn by the British a long time ago. No reason why people cannot draw a sensible one now. Now there will be a real struggle for the cherry in the icing like the holiest parts of Jerusalem. But that struggle is a lot better than huge groups of people wishing huge groups of people vanish from the face of the earth. The holiest places perhaps must be declared as international monuments if no peaceful solution can be found. Or some kind of sharing of rights between Jews and the Palestinian people. Beats me why that place is so holy and why people are crazy enough to die to live there.

Defending Women's right to be unconcerned about how they look

Trump's biggest problem is he criticizes women's appearances. Women take huge offense about it. Women deserve it for being so touchy about their looks. Imagine Trump making fun of a man's looks. That would be so silly.

ISIS

The big threat called ISIS always existed. Saudi Arabia supports Sunni Governments with army and ammunition. On the other hand, Iran only helps Shia Govts with ammunition and strategy. The army Saudi Arabia uses is typically made of mercenaries who are recruits from all over the world. ISIS is no big threat because it is nothing new.

Unnatural fight against planned parenthood

Most women will root for planned parenthood. That is the natural thing to do. The female of every species always plan parenthood and will not commit to parenting unless her offspring are secure enough. I wonder what the US politicians are thinking. If they want to see more babies, they must work on making women feel more secure in the country. Women typically want babies more than politicians.

The divided middle east

The Arab countries are divided between two players - Iran and Saudi Arabia. If a Sunny govt is in power then it has the support of Saudi Arabia. If a Shia govt is in power then it has Iranian support. The Western countries are just observers and get played with a lot. To bring peace to this region, two things must happen. Every country gets to vote for a democratic govt and Kurdish people must get their own country. A lot of Arab countries have minority govts in power with outside support.

The failed Arab spring

The Arab world is full of dictators. Every one knows that these western educated dictators are in general better than the alternative fundamentalist governments. But time and again people will wish for democracy. Instead of crushing these militarily, when demonstrations go beyond a scale, even dictators must address the questions to a ballot. Time for Assad to abdicate his position for the love of his country. Only way his country can have a smooth transition to a functioning government. The only solution to get rid of ISIS and supposedly friendly Drones that plague his country.

2016 elections and what I want to hear

I want to hear honesty as an agenda in the 2016 US elections. Without honesty anything the govt provides is worthless.

The Trump Wall

Donald Trump talks about Mexico sending their criminals to the US. This is debatable as a Mexican Govt policy. On the other hand, it is well known that criminals escape from US to Mexico all the time. Perhaps the very reason no one wants a Trump wall. In the old days, criminals got banished from their homes. A much more humane and cheaper punishment than putting people in jail.

Illegal immigration

They got it right in America. They need to get rid of illegal immigration once and for all. Opening the Mexican borders is the way to go.

A Kurdish question

Kurdistan was divided and distributed among four countries and each of these countries want the Kurdish people to lose their identity and forget their culture. Kind of a sad situation. I suppose there is a need for Kurdistan.

The ground breaking Delhi elections

A young party called the Aam aadmi party is winning in Delhi again. This is a victory of hope that a political party devoid of corruption will rule Delhi. Politics has become dirty all over the world. Regular people typically want to do nothing with politicians. But in India, the land of Gandhi, AAP is changing this dogma. There is hope. The leader of the party Kejriwal is a man of many complexes with tall claims. Nothing very impressive. Yet the party itself has plenty of clean and decent people. A lot of young people with the blessings of their families have skipped schools and colleges to campaign for AAP. This is an event people who love democracy all over the world will celebrate. Looks like AAP will have a definite majority this time. We will wait and watch whether a clean govt can really succeed in this world where corruption is the norm.

The pressing Tibet question

Everyone knows Tibet is not part of China. Tibet was way up in the mountains naturally protected from enemies. But those natural protections count for nothing these days. The Tibetan way of life is so beautiful that anyone would want to conserve it if it is even remotely possible. But the modern way of life may be the people's choice and Dalai Lama may be fighting a losing battle. The best way out of this dilemma is to put Tibet to vote like Scotland. Something as beautiful as Tibet deserves a chance at existence.
